VII FUTURES CONGRESS – Chile
Every January since the year 2010, Chile has welcomed hundreds of scientists, innovators, intellectuals, opinion leaders and Nobel Laureates from all over the world for a week-long truly unique experience in the remotest corner of the earth.
This annual event is a time for reflecting on the world around us and the time passing us by. Time is already an anecdote, in which the consequences of our actions are immediate. In this forum thought-leaders will speak about this. They will explore the unknown and be invited to push the boundaries of the possible and imaginable. Science and fiction unite in one sole country, in one sole universe, making way for the future.
The Chilean Senate hosts this Global Futures Congress as a free and open-access flagship event providing the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most cutting-edge research.
Dr. Scilla Elworthy and Karen Downes are honoured to be invited speakers by Her Excellency, President Michelle Bachelet, the Government of the Republic of Chile, the Chilean Congress and the Chilean Academy of Sciences. At this event they will active participants in the innovation of ideas and action-driving debate with 100 of the world’s greatest global minds and over 27,000 attendees both in Santiago and across 10 additional regions across the country and over 1.5 million viewers via streaming.
Since its creation, the event has been held in this natural laboratory distinguishable by its unique 4,000 km expanse of dramatic geography from the Atacama Desert to Antarctica and from the Andes to the Pacific Ocean.
