As the days, weeks and months have passed we have moved through a kaleidoscope of emotions; from confusion and grief to optimism and hope; from despair and fear to gratitude and compassion. The current challenges we face ask us to now walk a path consistent with our highest values, to shape the future. Living true to what matters most to us will require us to make decisions with discernment and the embodiment of higher morals and ethics.
In the past, our beliefs have given us certainty, our habits providing comfort, all of this has been disrupted. Coming out of the crisis, we will need to rebuild our lives. This will require something more of us than an adjustment or a mindset shift. It will require an entirely new operating system to face the conflict that has erupted, the lives that have been jeopardised and the lives that have suffered.
In the year 2000, after one of the most difficult periods in my own life when I had been challenged like never before, I wrote a book called Sacred Spaces. I wanted to create an intentional Sacred Space where I could heal, recover and rebuild my life. I sought out and developed the work of Rudolf Steiner; the 12 virtues of the human heart. I meditated upon them, practiced them in my life and found refuge and solace in doing this inner work. I was restored to my best self. It had not sought to rebuild my old identity; but to have the experience of returning to the source of the better version of myself; I grew strong and resilient from the inside out. This is why at this important time I invite you to embark on a journey with me for 12 weeks, to study and understand the virtues of the human heart. These are ancient truths of humanity that are inherent within each of us, the common thread that binds us and gives hope to live the best version of ourselves and to build a better future.
Over the past months, Jacinda Ardern heralded as a great leader of our times through crisis, epitomises many of the 12 virtues: devotion, compassion, selflessness and balance, to name just a few.
Starting on the 18th June, for 12 weeks, we, together, will discover what each of the virtues means in every day practice and why this matters. In each session we will explore, meditate upon and practice one of the virtues. This journey will enable you to build a foundation from which to live more powerfully in line with what matters most to you. Living true to the virtues gives greater direction, purpose and meaning to how we live.
Each Thursday evening at 5pm BST we will come together for an hour over 12 weeks to participate in a guided mediation on each virtue, followed by exploration and conversation on that week's virtue. The subsequent week allows for a practical application, a living embodiment of the virtue in your life.
